The Lottery Process

Lottery priority is assigned through the application process depending on the information submitted.
Please be aware that failure to provide accurate information supporting your requested priority(ies) may result in a student not receiving the priority(ies) requested.

  1. Sibling Status: Sibling status is applied if an applicant has an 'enrolled sibling' at the time of the lottery pull. An eligible sibling of an enrolled student, regardless of residence status, receives first preference for admission. 'Enrolled student' includes any student who is currently attending Stargate or has accepted a seat offer following the lottery.
  2. Stargate Employee: Eligible children of current employees, regardless of residence status, will receive next preference for admission.
  3. Independent Board Member: Eligible children of current Independent Stargate Board members who have served on the board for at least 2 years and are in good standing, as defined by board policy, will receive the next preference for admission.
  4. Adams 12 In-District: An eligible applicant who resides in the Adams 12 Five Star School District will receive the next priority. One proof of residency, as approved per Adams 12 Five Star School District, must be uploaded to the application system. *If you reside out-of-district and your student has attended an Adams 12 Five Star School for at least one entire school year, will be classified for admissions purposes as an Adams 12 In-District student.
  5. Out-of-District: Students who reside in a school district other than Adams 12 Five Star School District will have last priority.

*Note: Students who leave Stargate School for one year or less may be placed on a waitlist for the current school year (this is different than the application year), behind siblings of currently enrolled students and employee children. After one year, students will need to apply and will enter the lottery process along with newly eligible applicants.

The lottery is composed of all eligible applicants.

It is a random, computerized lottery based on the priorities listed above.

Seat offers are made based on the lottery results and seat availability.

The waitlist is made of the remaining eligible applicants that do not receive a seat offer.

The number of seats available varies by year and by grade. For all grades except kindergarten (where all seats are available), seat availability is determined by the number of students not returning for the following school year.

This process is monitored by an outside law firm to ensure validity.

Please note: Because the number of eligible applicants typically exceeds the number of spaces available, eligibility does not guarantee a seat offer.
After the lottery is complete, seat offers are sent via the electronic application system (SchoolMint). Please make sure your SchoolMint settings are updated to receive text messages AND emails.

If a seat offer is not immediately available for the upcoming school year, remaining eligible applicants will be placed on the waitlist.

If a seat is declined, the applicant voluntarily gives up their enrollment opportunity and must reapply for the following school year. The seat will then be offered to the next eligible applicant on the waitlist.

Stargate does not keep or roll the waitlist from year to year. As a results, your student's position on the waitlist does not carry over to the new application year.

If a seat offer is not made to an applicant for the upcoming school year, the applicant will be removed from the lottery pool. In order to enter the lottery pool for the next school year, the applicant must login tot he electronic application system and complete a new application for the next school year. No additional assessment information will be required as Stargate will keep the applicants body of evidence on file.

Please note: Failure to complete a new application for the next school year will result in the applicant being removed from the lottery.
