How to Apply

Stargate School is a K-12 charter school for intellectually gifted students.
It is located within the boundaries of the Adams 12 Five Star School District.

Stargate School’s Admissions Process involves two steps:
  • Step One:
    • Applications are evaluated to determine if applicants are eligible by meeting admission eligibility requirements.

Note: Completing an application does not guarantee the applicant is eligible for admission.

  • Step Two:
    • Eligible applicants are then included in a priority-weighted random computerized lottery and chosen based on available seats per grade.

Note: Eligibility does not guarantee a seat offer. Seats are subject to availability and are determined by a lottery that includes all other eligible applicants.

All students applying to Stargate must complete an application in the electronic application system, SchoolMint.

After creating a SchoolMint account, you will have the ability to complete an application.

Applications are only available during the admissions window listed on the Important Dates page.

A body of evidence is required to be submitted with your student's application in order for the application to be considered complete.

Stargate School utilizes a body of evidence to determine if a student meets the criteria for admission.

The Body of Evidence (BOE) includes, but may not be limited to, the following qualitative and quantitative measures:

  • Cognitive Assessment: A cognitive assessment evaluates cognitive skills such as, problem solving and reasoning.  The results of this assessment are an indicator of cognitive functioning and could suggest a potential of giftedness. Parents may have their child evaluated independently or may request that Stargate provide a cognitive assessment at the school. Stargate does not adhere to cut-off score practices.

For information on where your student can have a cognitive assessment, visit our FAQ page.

  • Standardized Academic Assessments: These academic scores are utilized to determine if a student demonstrates advanced ability in a specific academic area. Up to two forms of achievement data may come from the following assessments: CMAS, ATI-Galileo, NWEA/MAPS, iReady, PSAT, SAT, ACT, Renaissance STAR, ITBS, and others.

  • Teacher Contact Information: Once the application is submitted, Stargate will send a teacher questionaire to the teacher listed on your application.

  • Advanced Learning Plan: A student’s identification with an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) from any Colorado school/school district. Stargate reserves the right to request supporting documentation with regards to the ALP.

Assistance for establishing the required body of evidence are available for applicants. Stargate will also provide assistance for MLL students to assure that language access does not distort this process.

Assessment information may be available on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Please check your parent portal for assessment information to complete your student's body of evidence.
  • Once you submit your application, you will receive an email through SchoolMint to confirm submission of the application.
  • Once your application has been reviewed by the Admissions Office, you will receive another email to confirm the application is complete (this may take up to 7 business days to receive).
  • If your application is missing documentation, you will receive an email identifying what is required to complete the application.

Failure to provide the missing documentation by the application deadline (Important Dates) will render the student's application as incomplete and it will be cancelled.
See below for additional documents that may help you complete your application.
